What it is
Ceramide NP is a type of ceramide, one of the lipids naturally found in the skin barrier. In skincare it is usually paired with cholesterol, fatty acids, panthenol, or other moisturizers to help mimic the skin's own protective layer.
What it does
When the barrier is depleted, skin can feel tight, rough, red, and reactive. Ceramide NP helps replenish the lipid environment that keeps water in and irritants out, making it a natural fit for Korean "barrier repair" creams.
How to use it
Use it in the moisturizer step, especially at night or after active ingredients. It is helpful in winter, after travel, or during a retinoid routine.
Good to know
Ceramide NP itself is low-risk, but barrier creams can feel rich. Oily or acne-prone skin may prefer gel-cream formulas with lower oil content.
