What it is
Tranexamic acid, often shortened to TXA, is a brightening ingredient that has become more common in Korean serums and ampoules. It is especially popular in formulas aimed at uneven tone that also want to stay gentle.
What it does
It helps improve the look of dark patches, post-blemish marks, and dullness over time. Unlike exfoliating acids, it is not mainly about peeling the surface; it is more about supporting a calmer-looking pigment pathway.
How to use it
Use once daily under moisturizer and sunscreen. It pairs well with niacinamide and soothing ingredients, but go slowly if you also use retinoids or exfoliating acids.
Good to know
Usually well tolerated in cosmetic formulas, but results take time. Do not combine every brightening active at once if your barrier is reactive.
